Branch County clerk receives award

An area elected official was the recipient of a prestigious honor last week at the 111th annual Michigan Association of County Clerks Summer Conference in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The MACC “Clerk of the Year Award” was presented to Branch County’s Terry Kubasiak. The award recipient is selected based on criteria formulated by the MACC Board of Directors from nominations by other clerks and Clerk of the Year Committee members.

Also during the 2 1/2-day event, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the Michigan Bureau of Elections personnel discussed preparations for the 2020 elections.

In addition, St. Joseph County Clerk Lindsay Oswald was named director of the 17-county District 4. Her role begins Jan. 1.
