Woman injured in Cass County crash

An Indiana woman was injured following a three-vehicle incident at Kessington Road and U.S. 12 in Cass County’s Mason Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies responded at 2 p.m. Friday to a personal-injury accident. Investigators found that 18-year-old Haley Harmon, of Elkhart, turned left from Kessignton Road onto U.S. 12.

A vehicle traveling west on U.S. 12 and driven by Betty Jo Gourley, 49, of Dowagiac, struck the driver’s side of Harmon’s car, deputies said. Gourley’s vehicle also struck the trailer of a third vehicle.

Gourley was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for undisclosed injuries.

Seatbelts were worn by all drivers and passengers. Authorities said neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the crash.
