Avis G. Baldwin, age 94, of Three Rivers, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at Three Rivers Health. She was born on Jan. 17, 1925 the daughter of Fred and Elva (Anable) Hassenger. After graduation from High School she attended Beauty College and practiced briefly as a beautician. She was married to Lyle Allan Baldwin on Sept. 14, 1951 in Elkhart. He died on March 15, 2018. She had worked at Conns in South Bend and was a full-time homemaker. She was a member of the Center Park United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary at Riverview Manor, and the Mint Ladies Club. She enjoyed playing piano, singing in the church choir, square dancing, and reading. She especially loved time spent with her family.
Avis is survived by two daughters, Anne Murphy of Allegan and Julie Standish of Otsego; three granddaughters, Christine Murphy, Danyel Murphy, and Alayana Standish; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Murphy; and nephew, Mark (Bonnie) Hassenger and their son, Craig. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, L. Allan Baldwin; brother, Stanley Hassenger; and sister, Irene Jacobs.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 pm Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm Saturday at the funeral home with pastor Marty Culver officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
