Coldwater man facing murder charge

A Coldwater man charged with second-degree murder and assault with intent to cause harm less than murder is in police custody.

State police said Chad Danbury, 42, faced charges following a June 2018 incident in which 36-year-old Grant Morrison died at a Branch County residence.

The situation occurred just after midnight June 3 last year in the 400 block of Morning Glory Lane. Troopers arrived to the scene and found Morrison unresponsive. Despite efforts by troopers and EMS, Morrison was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An autopsy found the manner of death to be homicide by asphyxiation.

A warrant was issued late last week for Danbury, who turned himself in to authorities on Sunday.
