County commission honors milestone employees

Twenty-six people were recognized Tuesday for milestone years of service as St. Joseph County employees.

Members of the county commission and county administrator Teresa Doehring acknowledged those who attended the annual recognition. The roster featured eight 10-year employees; 10 people who have worked 15 years each; and a quartet for two decades of employment.

Jim Jacobs, family division caseworker; Kole Mostrom, maintenance technician; and custodian Mark Pratt are 25-year employees. Meanwhile, Andi Guy, friend of the court caseworker who was hired in February 1984, topped this year’s list of recipients with 35 years.

Departments represented included the sheriff’s office, district court, central dispatch, MSU Extension, Commission On Aging and equalization. Drain commissioner Jeff Wenzel and prosecutor John McDonough were the only elected officials to hit milestone years in 2019, having been in office 10 years each.

In other business, commissioners agreed to establish a work session related to creating the county’s 2020 fiscal-year budget. The session will take place at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at the courthouse.
