Nominations sought for teaching award

Nominations are being accepted for the 2019-20 John E. Oster Award for outstanding teaching and community service by a Sturgis Public Schools teacher.

The award is in honor of the late John E. Oster, a Sturgis attorney who placed high value on both education and community service. This will be the 39th award. It has been given annually since the 1981-82 school year.

Sturgis school district residents who want to nominate a teacher for consideration by the award committee may submit a nomination letter to: Sturgis Public Schools, Sturgis Central Commons, 107 W. West St. 49091.

In addition to recognition of outstanding teaching, community service is an important component that is considered in the application process.
