Railroad crossing work will cause detours

Michigan Department of Transportation has announced the closing of two routes in the Three Rivers area, with the first project starting next week.

MDOT officials said the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing on South Main Street – between Michigan and Pearl streets – will be closed starting Monday for repairs.

The week-long project will include reconstruction of the single-track crossing.

Then, starting Oct. 28, the M-86 railroad crossing between Lutz Road and 8th Street will be closed for a week for identical repair work.

MDOT officials said the new crossings will be smoother than they are currently.

Detour routes will be posted.
