COA crowdfunding effort reaches goal

A crowdfunding effort by the St. Joseph County Commission On Aging reached its $50,000 goal.

COA director Tim Stoll said as a result of meeting its goal, the agency qualifies for a $50,000 match through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Stoll said the funds will help with development of a park at the newly opened Rivers Enrichment Center at the former Three Rivers Inn.

A portion of the park will be inside the facility, as Stoll said the center of its interior will see the addition of artificial trees, a water feature and other amenities. In addition, more than three acres of land at the south end of the facility will feature development of a park.

Stoll said the outdoor park will include a walking trail, fitness equipment, and a multi-use court for activities such as tennis and pickleball.
