Mendon Township vote recount planned

A recount of votes cast during last week’s vote in Mendon Township will take place later this month.

St. Joseph County Clerk Lindsay Oswald said the county’s Board of Canvassers will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday to recount the 650 votes cast Nov. 5. The meeting will take place in the county courthouse History Room.

The recount centers on a vote related to a township ordinance that would allow for solar-panel developments. By a tally of 331 in favor to 319 opposed, the majority of voters supported the township’s ordinance.
