Rick Fidler, 48

Richard “Rick” Douglas Fidler, age 48, of Marcellus, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born in Canton, IL on January 8, 1971 the son of Richard J. and Linda K. (Myers) Fidler.

Rick spent his early childhood years in Cuba, IL, Manito, IL, and Ft. Wayne, IN.  He settled in Marcellus, when his father accepted a pastoral position at Harmony Chapel Missionary Church.

Rick graduated from Marcellus High School in 1989. He participated in football, basketball, and baseball. Baseball was his favorite and he was a talented catcher.

Rick spent his free time coaching his children in little league baseball and soccer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends where he was always the life of the party. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed angling opportunities at the Tippy Dam while the salmon were running. He enjoyed fishing the St. Joseph River at Mottville and Spoon River at Duncan Mills, IL. Rick also enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel, rabbit, and geese.

Richard was preceded in his passing by his father: Richard J Fidler; and grandparents: Leonard and Alice Fidler and Everette and Iva Myers.

Left to cherish Richard’s loving memory are: son, Jonah Everett Richard Fidler; daughter, Felicity Iva Jane Fidler; son, Kyle Motycka; grandson, Lucious Granada; former wife, Rachel (Lynn) Fidler; mother, Linda (Myers) Fidler; step-mother, Bonnie Fidler; sister, Michelle K (Jeff) Cornwell; brother, Stephen P Fidler; sister, Missy (Scott) Ritterbush; nieces, Taylor and Ali; nephew, Logan Cornwell.

In accordance with Richard’s wishes cremation has taken place and a public service to celebrate Rick’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at The Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene, 1221 Coon Hollow Rd, Three Rivers, MI 49093 with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Rich Saunders and Pastor Jerry Solis officiating.

Memorials made in Richard’s memory may be directed to a scholarship fund for Rick’s grandchild in care of Michelle Cornwell.
