Woman injured after hitting deer

An Edwardsburg woman was injured last week after the vehicle she was driving struck a deer.

The incident occurred at 4 a.m. Friday in Cass County’s Mason Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called to U.S. 12 near Kessington Road, where Jeanie Haines, 50, was driving east when her vehicle struck a deer that ran into the roadway.

Haines sustained minor injuries as a result of her vehicle’s airbags deploying. She was treated at Elkhart General Hospital.
