A Burr Oak man died Tuesday night following a single-vehicle accident in Burr Oak Township.
Sheriff’s officials said the incident occurred at 9:18 p.m. on Middle Colon Road at Kibolski Road.
According to a department media release, deputies were called to the scene and found that the vehicle was traveling north on Middle Colon Road. It left the east side of the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree south of Kibolski Road.
The driver was identified as a 56-year-old man who was extricated from the vehicle by Burr Oak Fire Department personnel. He was then transported to Sturgis Hospital, where he later died.
The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, though speed appears to be a factor, authorities said.
