A longtime member of the St. Joseph County Road Commission has been reappointed to the five-member panel.
County commissioners on Tuesday agreed to reappoint Eric Shafer to another term. Shafer, a Fishers Lake resident, is completing his first, six-year term. As a result of Tuesday’s action, he will return for another half dozen years.
The road commission board last month sent a letter to county board chairman Dennis Allen. Road commission members appealed to Allen, indicating their endorsement of Shafer returning to the board that oversees the Centreville-based agency.
In the letter, road commission board members indicated Shafer has knowledge and passion for the work the board undertakes, and his reappointment is critical to the future of the agency.
In a separate matter, county commission members reappointed Florence Township’s David Miars to a three-year term to the county’s board of public works.
