Two people were involved in a single-vehicle accident Christmas day in Cass County’s Howard Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to a location on Detroit Road, near Barron Lake Road.
Deputies said 36-year-old Ikbal Singh of Three Rivers was driving east on Detroit Road when he swerved the car he was driving to avoid striking a dog that ran into the roadway.
His vehicle went off the road and overturned, causing damage to a utility pole. The collision resulted in the immediate area losing power until crews were able to restore it.
Singh and passenger Shila Devi were taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both occupants of the car were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not a factor in the crash, authorities said.
