Constantine woman announces run for state rep

A Constantine resident recently announced her candidacy for state representative of Michigan’s 59th district.

Amy East, a 1996 graduate of Constantine High School, is running as a Democrat.

She graduated from Michigan State University in 2000 before earning a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University.

West has worked in the field of anthropology and archaeology for nearly 20 years, and said these experiences make her a good candidate for state representative. East said her campaign will focus largely on public education, the economy and the environment.

East is married to Joel, a licensed surveyor. They have one daughter, Eliza.
