Information released in Constantine crash investigation

More information about a fatal, two-vehicle collision last week in Constantine Township has been released by authorities.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said 31-year-old Kila Nichole Stamper of Elkhart died as a result of the vehicle in which she was a passenger colliding with a semi tractor-trailer.

Deputies were called around 7 p.m. Jan. 16 to the intersection of U.S. 131 and Riverside Drive. Investigators said a vehicle occupied by Stamper turned southbound off Riverside Drive into the northbound lane. The other occupants were 27-year-old Stevie Good and 31-year-old Charles Scott, both of Elkhart.

The pickup in which they were riding was struck by a northbound semi driven by a 64-year-old Goshen man, authorities said.

Authorities noted that alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.
