New scholarship for Sturgis High School students

Officials from the Sturgis Area Community Foundation have announced establishment of a new scholarship fund to benefit Sturgis High School students, possibly as soon as this year.

The Harley and Eva Pierce Memorial Scholarship was established last week in memory of longtime Sturgis residents Harley and Eva Pierce.

Its purpose is to provide financial aid for college to scholar-athletes who have excelled academically at Sturgis High School.

It is the hope of the Pierce family that through the Harley and Eva Pierce Memorial Scholarship, they will be able to continue helping young people who enter college to pursue career goals, and also to honor the memories of Harley and Eva.

Applications for the Harley and Eva Pierce Memorial Scholarship, along with 45 other Sturgis Area Community Foundation scholarships, will be available online at sturgisfoundation.org, beginning Jan. 21.
