Arrests made following police pursuit

A Portage man led sheriff’s deputies on a vehicle pursuit last week in Park Township.

According to a department media release, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle Jan. 26 on Buckhorn Road, near Marcellus Road. The vehicle sped up and tried to avoid the deputy by turning into a driveway.

In an attempt to elude authorities, the suspect drove through a yard before crashing into a ditch. The vehicle became immobilized after getting stuck in the snow.

Its driver, 29-year-old Dustin Beacham of Portage, was arrested on outstanding warrants, and was also charged with fleeing and eluding.

A passenger, 31-year-old Vicksburg resident Rachel Neidlinger was arrested for possession of narcotics and providing false information to an officer. She, too, was wanted on outstanding warrants, according to authorities.

The other passenger, 30-year-old Todd Diekema of Three Rivers, fled the scene on foot, though deputies located Diekema later in the week at his residence.

He was taken into custody for outstanding warrants. Additional charges are being requested, deputies said.
