Constantine reviewing marijuana ordinance

Members of the Constantine Village Council have reviewed details about an ordinance proposal for recreational marijuana.

The council on Monday reviewed comments made Jan. 20 by Portage attorney Catherine Kaufman regarding a draft for the new ordinance.

Village Manager Mark Honeysett asked the council to continue reviewing the draft, and pass along input in hopes the final draft could be approved and a public hearing set.

At Monday’s meeting, Honeysett said he does not yet have the new ordinance draft.

The village’s proposed recreational marijuana ordinance states there is an initial nonrefundable application fee of $1,000. If a license is granted, the licensee must pay an annual fee of $2,000.
