Wanda Kay Franks, age 72, of Leonidas, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice in Battle Creek. She was born in Heron, IL on Aug. 30, 1947 the daughter of Miles and Eleanor (Winters) Belt. She was married to Delbert Junior Franks on Aug. 13, 1964 in Kalamazoo and they made their home in the Mendon-Leonidas area. Together they earned their GED from Mendon High School. Wanda had worked at Denton Mills and Fastener Coatings. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, sewing, and crocheting.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Delbert; three children, Joyce (Richard) Sylvester, Mike (Erica) Franks, and Larry (Laura) Franks all of Mendon; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her mother, Eleanor Whittaker of Lincoln, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Sam Whittaker; and a son, Joseph J. Franks.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Carl Litchfield, Pastor of the Mendon United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery. Donations will be directed to the family.
