Man assaulted and robbed in Three Rivers

A 45-year-old man was robbed of more than $300 earlier this week following an incident in Three Rivers.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies were called at 1 a.m. Monday to an area on U.S. 131 between Michigan Avenue and North Main Street in response to a strong-arm robbery.

The victim was walking north along U.S. 131 when six people exited a vehicle and assaulted him, law-enforcement officials said.

He told authorities the suspects stole $350 in cash from him.

Authorities said he sustained serious injuries to his face, including a chipped tooth and a swollen eye.
