County commission approves law-enforcement contract

Several odds and ends were approved by St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

Commissioners accepted annual reports from drain commissioner Jeff Wenzel and grant writer James Hissong; approved the county’s 2020 remonumentation plan; and OK’d parks and recreation’s request for alcohol sales. The occasion is an endurance mountain-bike race at Meyer Broadway Park July 19.

The board also agreed to renew a five-year contract with Fabius Township for law-enforcement services. The agreement provides 40 hours of sheriff’s department law-enforcement within the township per week.

In addition, the commission passed a motion related to Central Dispatch and its final integration agreement with Michigan Public Safety Communications System. They also approved a co-location license agreement to install a 911 antenna on a tower near the intersection of M-40 and M-60 in the Cass County Community of Jones.
