Emergency Management director updates county commission

Erin Goff, Emergency Management Services director for St. Joseph County, provided a COVID-19 update to county commissioners during their meeting Tuesday.

Conducted through the remote-conferencing service Zoom, the meeting provided an opportunity for Goff to explain that the agency is assisting public health with community outreach, and assessing personal-protective equipment for first responders, law-enforcement, health-care workers and a number of other organizations and professions that require PPE who may not be able to get it from another source.

Goff said the agency is also trying to address the needs of vulnerable populations, from homeless and people with food insecurity, to the needs of senior citizens identified through the county’s Commission On Aging.

She said it appears Emergency Management is adequately meeting everyone’s needs so far.
