Leonard Bauder Jr., 60

Leonard James Bauder Jr., age 60, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday morning April 21, 2020 at his home.
He was born May 11, 1959 in Sturgis, son of the late Leonard James and Arla Mae (Rustad) Bauder.
Leonard was a lifelong Sturgis resident.
Most of his working life was in the restaurant business as a chef. He had been employed by Elias Big Boy and the Starlite Restaurant both in Sturgis and the Harvey House in Constantine. He also owned and operated a scrapping business and worked with his father in mechanical auto repair.
He enjoyed collecting die cast models, building models, fishing and listening to Bluegrass music and he was a devoted fan of Star Trek.
He is survived by one son: Leonard Bauder, III of Bonita Springs, Florida; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; longtime companion: Sandra Boggs of Sturgis; two brothers: Lonnie Bauder of Leonidas and Dale Bauder of Charlotte; four sisters: Sharon McMullen of Union City, Carol Johnson of Coldwater, Goldie (Michael) Danberry and Gail LeCount both of Sturgis; two step-brothers: Gregory Roberts and Mark Roberts both of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant twin sons: Everton John and Ernest Paul Bauder; father and step-mother: Leonard J. and Judith Kay Bauder and mother: Arla Mae Trowbridge.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Due to current conditions with the COVID-19 pandemic and the limitations of gatherings a memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Leonard James Bauder, Jr. will be held at a later date to be announced.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
