Sturgis city facilities remain closed

In compliance with Gov. Whitmer’s extension of the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order, Sturgis city facilities will continue to remain closed to the public through at least May 15.

Other measures the city has adopted to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and encourage social distancing will continue. Those measures include closure of city hall, Doyle Community Center and Sturges-Young Center for the Arts.

It also means cancellation of all nonessential city board and commission meetings and online presentation of city commission and essential board and commission meetings.

In addition, use of park equipment will continue, though city parks remain open.

City officials said the order also means that suspension of all utility disconnections will remain in place until June 30, and waiver of all utility late fees between March 13 and June 30.
