Sturgis Fest moves to August

Sturgis Fest is moving to August.

Members of the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce Board agreed Thursday to postpone the city’s annual summer festival to the week of Aug. 17.

Originally scheduled for the week of June 22, Sturgis Fest will occur during a period in which it will not conflict with other community festivals or major events in St. Joseph County.

Chamber executive director Cathi Garn Abbs said it was a relief to at least have the decision made and festival organizers can now catch their breath before continuing on with the planning.

Christy Trammell, President and CEO of the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce, said she is aware of Sturgis Fest’s postponement. The Three Rivers Water Festival is still set to take place June 18-20, the weekend before Sturgis Fest was originally scheduled.

Trammell maintained that the Water Festival Committee will not make a final decision about the festival’s 2020 status until May.
