The former White Pigeon Paper Company is expected to close at the end of June.
Employees were notified during a building-wide meeting called Tuesday by plant leaders. The closing date is June 30.
A company employee who spoke on condition of anonymity said the White Pigeon facility has 88 floor workers and about a dozen office employees.
In April 2019, Georgia-based Graphic Packaging International LLC purchased White Pigeon Paper and, following the deal, renamed the White Pigeon plant GPI Midwest LLC.
According to the company’s website, the White Pigeon plant manufactures recycled paperboard for folding cartons, producing more than 70,000 tons of recycled paperboard annually. Furthermore, the website says the White Pigeon location produces coated and uncoated paperboard for the packaging industry.
Plant official John Richter was not available for comment late Tuesday afternoon.
