Catherine Lorraine Torrans, 94

Catherine (Kate) L. Torrans age 94 of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away on Friday, May 2, 2020.  She was born in Berwyn, IL on February 13, 1926, the daughter of Ernie and Rose Porath.  Both Harold Shannon and her second husband, Richard Torrans, preceded her in death along with her sister, Agnes Sabonis and her step son, Steve Torrans.  In 2005 she moved to Ypsilanti, MI where she lived with her daughter, Shirley.  She passed away in the Memory Care Unit where she resided, Linden Square, Saline, MI.
Kate is survived by her three children, Star Milloy, Shirley (Robert)  Cropsey and Bruce (Grace) Shannon, her three step children, Dick (Nancy) Torrans, Judy (Mike) Jacobs, Dan (Rhonda) Torrans, her brother, Ernie Porath along with 20 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
Kate was the backbone of the Shannon Turkey Farm! She spent many years supporting Harold in his farming venture.  She was also a huge support to her family and friends, giving of her time and inspiration.
She became a Christian while attending the Volinia Baptist Church and throughout her life, has been involved in church and community life.  Her interests included Bible Study groups, art, quilting, reading, puzzles, and helping and being an inspiration to others.  Her greatest joy was her family.
There will be a graveside service for the family on May 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crane Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband, Harold Shannon.
