Jack Beers, 82

ack D. Beers, age 82, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday morning, May 20, 2020 at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Centreville.
He was born October 19, 1938 in LaGrange, son of the late Kenneth and Kate Beers.
He was a lifelong Sturgis area resident.
Jack was a welder by trade retiring from Manchester Tank and Equipment following several years of dedicated employment. Prior to joining Manchester Tank he had been employed by the Harter Corporation in Sturgis for 28 years until the company closed.
He enjoyed the outdoors especially when he was deer hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing or camping and loved the several years he and Joan wintered in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Jack is survived by his wife: Joan; two daughters: Debra Howe of Mottville and Sally Jackson of Sturgis; six grandchildren; one brother: Michael Beers of Missouri and his dog: Punky.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and infant son.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. Due to the current conditions with the COVID-19 pandemic and the limitations of gatherings a graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date to be announced.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
