Local council offers cribs to families

The St. Joseph County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect wishes to remind the public that it is a partner of the organization Cribs For Kids.

As a result, the CA/N Council is able to help anyone in need of a safe sleeping place for their baby. Its partnership with Cribs For Kids allows the council to gift Pack-N-Plays to area families.

Agency officials said the CA/N Council is able to purchase Pack-N-Plays with grant money. To qualify, it asks that the family or a caregiver making the request fills out an application and provides information to verify the need for a safe place for a baby to sleep.

Recipients must participate in a brief, safe-sleep training. Once training is complete, parents or caregivers must sign a safe-sleep checklist and a hold-harmless document.

The CA/N Council may be reached by phone at 269-888-3510 or email at sjc.can.council@gmail.com.
