Construction of a roundabout at Farrand and Colon roads in Colon Township is to begin next week.
St. Joseph County Road Commission assistant manager Garrett Myland detailed the plan during a work session Wednesday.
The goal is to complete the project no later than the first week of August, he noted.
The single-lane roundabout will be a 130-foot inscribed diameter. The driving lane will be 20 feet to help accommodate agricultural equipment and the truck apron will be 12 feet.
The Centreville-based agency received a grant from Michigan Department of Transportation, which will cover 90 percent of construction cost.
Wasting money on the latest road fad. Increased maintenance costs, lower life span.
