Out and About – Week of May 11th

Covid-19 has now claimed the lives of over 80,000 in the United States. In Vietnam, we lost approximately 58,000 Americans. We are reminded of this every time we watch just about any newscast. This is a sad time we’re going through. Someday, there will hopefully be a cure for the Coronavirus. Scientists are working very hard to find a cure and we must help by following the advice of those working on the cure.

People are dying everyday as a result of many different things. Some are fatally killed in automobile accidents. Some die of natural causes. The list goes on and on. The one cause of death that we might be able to stop is suicide. More and more people are taking their own lives everyday, for different reasons. Some of us have contemplated suicide at one time or another during our lifetime

If you are interested in helping stop the growing rate of suicides, there is something you can do. Here in Three Rivers, we are fortunate to have a 24-hour Suicide Prevention Lifeline. If you are thinking of ending your life prematurely, or know of someone who might have the same idea, please call the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). You may also TEXT-HELLO to 741741. They also have a website at: SUICIDEPREVENTIONLIFELINE.ORG.

I would like to thank Cavonnis and Hardings. Both of these merchants have free wristbands that you may wear with important contact information on them. Remember that suicide might be painless for the person doing it, but it is not painless for those loved ones that are left behind to mourn. There is help out there and all you need to do is call.

Here are five tips for you ladies that you should know about that man of yours:

It’s important that a man helps you around the house AND has a job.
It’s important that a man can make you laugh.
It’s important to have a man you can count on and doesn’t lie to you.
It’s important that your man loves you and spoils you.
Lastly, it’s important that these four men don’t know each other.
The “Stay at Home” order has been extended through Thursday, May 28. Only you can prevent forest fires and only you can prevent this order from being extended. Please pay attention to your social distancing and stay home as much as you can. Wear a mask when you go to the grocery store or any other place where you might come into contact with others.

The Water Festival, which normally happens on Fathers’ Day weekend, has been rescheduled for July 23-25 due to the Corvid-19 pandemic. There will be more information forthcoming as soon as it becomes available. Be sure to check radio stations WLKM and WRCI for the latest updates.

“The measure of life is not in its duration, but its donation.” ~ Peter Marshall

The best place in the world is in the arms of someone who will not only hold you at your best, but will pick you up and hug you tight at your weakest moment.
