Police arrest man for retail theft

Three Rivers Police arrested a man suspected of retail theft at Walmart.

According to a department media release, officers were called shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday in response to store personnel who said the man was involved in a shoplifting incident over the weekend.

Officers escorted the man to his vehicle, where he was to produce identification to authorities. Officers found that the vehicle was reported stolen and the suspect got in the driver’s seat and drove from the scene.

The driver headed east on Millard Road and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 131.

The suspect, whose community of residence was not indicted in the media release, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing and eluding, obstruction, retail fraud second degree and absconding from parole.
