Centreville will allow outdoor temporary seating

The Centreville Village Council has approved a request from The Local restaurant to offer café seating on a temporary basis.

Plans are to set up seven picnic tables on the sidewalk in front of its building, with a 40-inch walkway to comply with ADA requirements.

While the approval is for a temporary setup, if the arrangement works well, owner Dan Templin plans to return to the council to request a long-term permit.

The business has purchased the building next door, at 112 W. Main St., allowing for more seating and kitchen capacity.

Templin said he hopes the Liquor Control Commission approves his application and the café seating will be in place as soon as next week.
