MDOT gives US 131 update

The Michigan Department of Transportation’s weekly update on the U.S. 131 reconstruction project in Three Rivers will see a few changes to note this week.

Stage 5 traffic pattern will continue, meaning all traffic is using a single lane in the southbound side of the highway.

Utility relocation continues at various points through the length of the project.

MDOT officials said eastbound Broadway Street traffic has moved to the south side of the road while construction on the north half of Broadway begins.

Meanwhile, Coon Hollow Road paving work is scheduled to start this week. It will remain closed through the duration of the paving process; motorists are advised to use detour routes.

Some mainline paving is to be completed north of West Michigan Avenue, though access to businesses will be maintained.

MDOT further noted access to Kerr Creek Road will be closed as cul de sac constriction is to begin.

Finally, electrical subcontractor crews will continue performing signal work at various locations throughout the project.
