Recycling center re-opens

Westside Landfill is re-opening its recycling center this weekend.

Waste Management’s Eric Shafer said the Roberts Road facility will be open 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday and remain open every Saturday to accept electronics, residential paper, plastics and glass, lead and batteries, propane tanks and tires.

Electronics include computers and computer equipment, printers, wires and cords, monitors, stereo equipment, game consoles, car batteries and kitchen appliances.

Paper items include magazines, newspapers, phone books and corrugated cardboard.

Co-mingled recyclables include metal and aluminum cans, foil, glass bottles and jars, milk jugs, and water and shampoo bottles, No. 1 and No. 2 plastic containers.

The collection also accepts books in good shape, wine corks, box tops and Campbell’s soup labels for local schools, lead-acid batteries and for-deposit bottles and cans that will be used to help support the Fabius Township recycling program.

There is a $1 fee for non-Fabius Township residents.

The township’s quarterly Styrofoam recycling program is June 13.
