Sturgis City Hall reopens

Sturgis City Hall reopened last week but it will maintain limited hours indefinitely.

Its hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It will continue to remain closed Tuesdays.

Anyone visiting city hall should plan to wear a face-covering in compliance with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order.

Other changes for the city’s reopening process include electric disconnections for non-payment were to resume last week. Late fees for unpaid utility bills will once again accrue starting Wednesday.

Also, the police department lobby is open to the public, park equipment may be used, city commission meetings will return to in-person format and will be held at Sturges-Young Center for the Arts, and city-organized events, classes or activities that are not allowed or are unable to be planned under restrictions on gathering will be postponed or canceled.

Residents are encouraged to conduct city-related business remotely, when possible.
