Thomas McGee, 63

Thomas Earl McGee, age 63, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo surrounded by his family and friends.

Born to Rose McGee, Jr. and Annie (Martin) McGee in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Thomas was the fourth of nine children. He was raised in Three Rivers, where he attended school, played sports and graduated in 1977. He briefly served in the United States Military and the National Guard. He worked at Weyerhaeuser for 29 years.

Thomas was good natured and well-liked by many. He had a big heart and was always willing to help others. He loved his grandchildren and took pride in all their accomplishments. He enjoyed landscaping and was an avid Detroit Lions fan. Thomas served as an Usher and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Thomas loved life, his family and God. He was known for his great sense of humor and always made people laugh. He fought his illness for many years, never letting it dominate his life. He fought the good fight, until he grew weary, and went home to be with his Lord.

Thomas was preceded in death by his brother Roy McGee; and father, Rose McGee, Jr. He is survived by his daughter Amanda (McGee) Brown; adopted sons T.J. McGee and Del Rico McGee; his siblings, Jimmy McGee, Elizabeth McGee, Bobbie (McGee) Mackey, Bonnie (McGee) McCord, Kenneth McGee, Troy McGee, and Ron McGee; grandchildren Akira McGee, Andrew Brown Jr., and Areya Brown; a host of nieces and nephews; stepchildren; and dear friend, Sharon DeJesus.

Thomas will always be loved and missed. May he rest in peace.

In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
