Centreville storefront moves to new location

Building Hope Free Store in Centreville has moved from its previous location at 112 W. Main St. into a larger space next door, the former site of the St. Joseph County Abstract office.

Wendell Moyer, Free Store coordinator, said the larger space will ensure the Free Store will not have to turn down donations.

The change will also benefit two adjacent businesses: The Local, which will expand east into the space vacated by Free Store; and St. Joseph County Abstract, whose owner is retiring.

Building Hope, now in its 10th year of operation, accepts clean, gently used household items that are not furniture or electrical appliances.

Items are available at no charge to people in need. Building Hope Free Store has given away nearly 1 million items over the years, Moyer said.

Free Store moved into its new building over Memorial Day weekend.
