Mendon man receives award

A Mendon Township man was recently presented a “Citizen Lifesaving” award by Sheriff Mark Lillywhite.

According to a department media release, resident Danny Madden went above and beyond during a personal-injury lawn mower accident May 2 on River Run Road.

Lillywhite said Madden not only assisted the victim, but the victim’s father and first responders. Madden was the first person to arrive and aid the father of the victim.

Madden applied pressure to the victim’s wound with a towel until the arrival of first responders. Madden also allowed emergency vehicles to drive through his yard to stage the landing area of the Air Care unit.

In addition, Madden offered bottled water to first responders staged in his backyard. Lillywhite said Madden’s actions truly went above and beyond.
