Officials from St. Joseph County’s largest school district are in the midst of establishing a plan for how to proceed with the 2020-21 academic year.
During last week’s board meeting, Sturgis Public School Superintendent Art Ebert said plans are in development and details will be released after those proposals are finalized.
Administrators apologized about being unable to provide details, but gave assurance the teams are doing a significant amount of work in the planning phase.
The goal is to have a back-to-school plan established sometime by the end of next week, Ebert said. The plan follows the state providing all Michigan schools and districts with a “Safe Return to Schools” guide.
Sturgis Public Schools’ back-to-school team, which includes staff and parents with health department guidance, is developing plans to address how more than 200 requirements and recommendations will be put into place.
