Sturgis High School officials said in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the school’s band program in 2021, plans are underway to build a Sturgis Music Walk of Fame.
The proposed walk is expected to be developed outside the band room doors.
The school’s band and orchestra programs are planning a fundraiser that involves the purchase of brick pavers, through which proceeds will help support the undertaking.
The brick purchase will provide an opportunity to etch names, a meaningful inscription, or dedicate a brick in honor or memory of a loved one.
Bricks will be installed later this summer as an Eagle Scout Project by a student who is in Sturgis High School’s band and orchestra.
Organizers also hope to purchase a director’s stand on the practice field for the marching band.
Three different sizes of bricks are available and range in price from $55 to $400.
The deadline for all orders is July 15. More information is available by phoning 625-6547.
