Wait Road construction project delayed

St. Joseph County road commissioners learned recently that there has been no confirmation about when the widening and reconstruction project on Wait Road in Sherman Township will begin.

The start date initially was set for April 1, but was delayed due to the COVID- 19 shutdown, said John Lindsey, managing director of the commission.

Furthermore, work on U.S. 131 in Three Rivers took precedence for the contractor, Lindsey added.

Clerk Julie Mayuiers said as soon as the board is notified of the start date, it will be posted on the road commission’s website: stjoeroads.com.

Deadline for the project’s completion is Oct. 31.
