Wendy Sue Birkhold, age 54, of Centreville, died while surrounded by her family on Friday, July 24, 2020 at her home. She was born in Kalamazoo on Nov. 17, 1965 the daughter of Michael and Susan (Dolhay) Birkhold, Sr. She attended Comstock and Portage Northern Schools and has resided in St. Joseph County the past 30 years. Wendy provided cleaning services to homes and business, most recently at Kadant-Johnson in Three Rivers. She enjoyed outdoor activities, kayaking, travelling to Lake Michigan, and trips “Up-North”.
Wendy is survived by her spouse of 30 years, Frank Racette; two daughters, Amy (Jimmy) Combs of Three Rivers and Ashley Allen of Mendon; three grandchildren, Brooklyn Combs, Kollin Bradley and Travis Bradley; her parents; Mike and Sue Birkhold of Centreville; a brother, Michael (Kelly) Birkhold, Jr. of Colon; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; Mother and father in law, Sue and Larry Gonser; and two brothers in law, Jeff and Robert Racette. She was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Birkhold.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Masks and distancing guidelines will be followed. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday, July 28, 2020 along the river at the funeral home with COVID spacing observed.
