Officials with the St. Joseph County Road Commission said a major road project in Colon Township is complete.
A roundabout at the intersection of Colon and Farrand roads has opened after work started a few months ago.
John Lindsey, road commission managing director, said the roundabout has a 20-foot driving lane to accommodate agricultural equipment and a 12-foot truck apron.
Assistant manager/engineer Garrett Myland said a local farmer drove through the roundabout in a John Deere track tractor with a wide track spread and indicated he had no issue navigating the circle.
Myland, who has driven each of the four exits, said the roundabout project went smoothly with the exception of a small bump on the northbound exit, which the project’s paving contractor plans to fix, he said.
