Donald E. Kufeldt, age 93, of Elkhart, formerly of Constantine, died on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Eastlake Terrace Assisted Living in Elkhart. He was born January 4, 1927 in Bristol, IN a son of Fredrick and Mabel (Lake) Kufeldt. Don graduated from Bristol High School and later served in the Merchant Marines.
On October 2, 1947 Don married Ruth Graybill in Elkhart. He worked as a independent and union carpenter. Don was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Constantine and the John S. Barry Historical Society in Constantine. He enjoyed building furniture and crafts.
Surviving are his wife Ruth Kufeldt, Elkhart, children Marge Fedorchak, Kalamazoo, Gary (Tamara) Kufeldt, Constantine, Sandi Cook, LasVegas, NV, Janice (Bill) Scull, Des Moines, IA, 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Jennifer, Tina, Fred and Katharine, 6 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Dirk Scull, sons in law Phil Cook and Rob Fedorchak, siblings James Kufeldt, Gladys Sigsbee, and Lois Boyer.
Don’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 2:00 at Messiah Lutheran Church (outdoor yard), 185 W. 5th St.; Constantine. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to Constantine Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen or First Congregational United Church of Christ.
