Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport Director Craig Williams said the number of passengers in July 2020 jumped 43 percent from June 2020.
However, the number is still 77 percent less than July 2019 passenger numbers.
Williams said the June-to-July growth is a result of American and Delta increasing the number of flights to the airport.
Kalamazoo is tracking better than the national average and the airlines are returning flights to those markets that are responding to increased service, Williams said, explaining the quicker travelers return to AZO, the faster the airlines will increase flights.
Individually, both American and Delta saw their numbers grow as a result of the increased capacity. United’s numbers for July were down and reflect its presence for only the first week before its three-month hiatus.
United plans to return Oct. 1.
