Man died in Cass County crash

An Edwardsburg man was hospitalized, and later died, after he was involved in a one-vehicle crash over the weekend in Cass County’s Pokagon Township.

Sheriff Richard Behkne said deputies were called at 7:35 p.m. Sunday to a location on Barron Lake Road, south of Pokagon Highway.

Investigators said 27-year-old Aaron Marquardt was traveling north on Barron Lake Road when his vehicle went through a curve. Marquardt lost control of the vehicle and it collided into a utility pole. The vehicle then went airborne and rolled multiple times.

Marquardt was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where he died.

It is unknown if a seat belt was worn, authorities said.
