Out and About – Week of August 24th

This pandemic that we are all experiencing can be very trying on all of us. Our patience wears thin and it’s very easy to be rude to others at sometime or another. I’d like to share something my pastor posted on Facebook. It made a lot of sense to me. It deals with the difference between being rude and being kind.

Being rude is easy. It does not take any effort and is a sign of weakness and insecurity.

Kindness shows great self-discipline and strong self-esteem. Being kind is not always

easy when dealing with rude people. Kindness is a sign of a person who has done a lot

of personal work and has come to a great self-understanding and wisdom. Choose to be

kind over being right and you’ll be right every time, because kindness is a sign of strength.

What kind of a person are you and what kind of a person would you like to be?

Can you still park your car in your garage, or is it filled with items you haven’t used in over a year? Do you have a couch that has been sitting around and no one wants to sit on it because it’s too shabby and worn? Here’s the solution to your situation. The city of Three Rivers will conduct their annual City-Wide Trash Pickup beginning the week of August 31. Here’s the schedule for the pick-up:

First District – Monday, August 31.
Second District – Tuesday, September 1.
Third District – Wednesday, September 2.
Fourth District – Thursday, September 3.
All unwanted items should be placed on your terrace along with your regular trash container. The city of Three Rivers has partnered with Waste Management to provide this one-time removal of items for residential properties. If Waste Management is not your trash removal provider, your regular trash will be picked up separately. The amount of items is limited to three cubic yards, which is equal to about one truck load. For those residents living downtown, there will be dumpsters in the East and West parking lots.

Everyone loves a good sale. Many save coupons and use them at the grocery store to save that almighty dollar. It’s advisable to buy as many items as you can during annual sales, which are often geared to holidays or periods when sellers are clearing out seasonal inventory. Here are a few hints on saving money through the rest of this year:

September: Back-to-school and fall clothing and summer sports equipment are usually big sale items along with picnic wares.
October: Winter clothing; air conditioners and lawn mowers. Dealers need to clear their space for snow blowers and other winter items. Believe it or not, cosmetics and other beauty supplies are sale-able items.
November: Winter coats and Pre Christmas items.
December: Cars and trucks. Business is slow during the holidays and dealers want to get rid of last year’s models. After Christmas, greeting cards, ornaments and gift wrapping supplies are always on sale.
See you Out and About!
