Sturgis schools adjust start and end times

The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed Sturgis Public Schools to adjust daily start and end times for the upcoming school year.

Classes at Sturgis High School will begin at 7:30 a.m. and dismiss at 1:55 p.m. on full days, and dismiss at 10:50 on half-days.

Sturgis Middle School will start classes at 7:45 a. m. and end at 2:10 p.m. Half-days will dismiss at 11:05 a.m.

Meanwhile, Congress, Jerolene, Wall, Wenzel and Sturgis Central Commons will start the day at 8:40 a.m. and conclude at 3:05 p.m., with noon dismissal on half-days.

Eastwood Elementary School will begin its school day at 8:44 a.m. and dismiss at 3:20, with dismissal at 12:15 p.m. on half-days.

The effort is part of the district’s work to anticipate a continuation of phase 4 reopening, although subject to change if the state moves back to phase 3 and all education is done remotely.
